The Next Most Famous Artist is a digital artist and a graduate from Goldsmiths UK at LASALLE College of the Arts with a Masters in Asian Art Histories in 2019. He was also a recipient of the Winston Oh Post-Graduate Research Grant. As a Digital Art Director, he utilises his skills in photo-manipulation and motion design for his practice as a contemporary artist. By combining his advertising background with a passion for art history, The Next Most Famous Artist was born as a reaction to the growing social media climate where virality and popularity have become the language of the now. His works explore different artworks and mediums while spotlighting various social issues and highlighting the beauty of everyday life. He is mostly known for reimagining classical paintings by re-staging their protagonists in contemporary settings. This art practice goes beyond a digital image as he utilises social media to focus on the conceptions of intimacies, and to generate new understandings of collaboration and participation between the artist and the viewer. This is achieved by involving the audience in the creation of his classical portraits, as well as giving the power of narrative over to them to express their own stories.
His works have graced the pages of The Straits Times, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue Singapore magazine. Prints of his works have also popped up on the walls of Funan Mall, bus stop shelters, coworking spaces and cafes. Recently, he has successfully created and sold NFTs of his artworks.
