Faye Pamintuan

b. 1994, Manila, Philippines
Lives and works between Texas, USA and Bulacan, Philippines

Constantly traveling between the two countries has informed Pamintuan’s practice as she cultivates and maps out her own space in this in-between. Her works are inquiries that respond to the dilemma of the diaspora: probing on the sense of self through imagined moments colliding, exploding, melting, and molding into each other. Pamintuan’s paintings manifest from outbursts of energy coupled with slow quiet moments of contemplation. Through layers that encourage conversation between intuitive mark making and mediated strokes, she probes at the visual possibilities of slowing down movement, suspending time, and elongating moments. She balances her studio practice alongside teaching art classes to both children and adults.

Pamintuan received her BFA in Painting from the University of the Philippines, Diliman (magna cum laude), and has completed artist residencies at the Walkaway House in Massachusetts and the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has completed fellowships and workshops with the NYC Crit Club and the Alternative Art School, where she was mentored by Gridthiya Gaweewong, curator and artistic director at the Jim Thompson Art Centre in Bangkok. Her works were featured in the 2024 edition of S.E.A. Focus in Singapore.
