Alisa Chunchue

b. 1991, Thailand
Lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand

Alisa Chunchue is a visual artist known for her sculpture, multimedia installation, and performance collaboration. The genesis of Alisa’s work extends outwards from the primary investigation of the body and self. Her practice focuses on re-imagining the visceral, materiality, face-to-face experiences of on site-specific installation. The influence of medical experiences is central to her work. Through her artistic practice, she investigates the body’s organs and parts, as well as its medical treatments and procedures. She draws on the inherent nature of each chosen material she works with – be it synthetic or organic – to exhume its unique essence, emphasising her deep physical exploration of the body to its cellular level by portraying them through different contextualization and methodologies.

Alisa graduated with a BA in Sculpture from Silpakorn University in 2016. Alisa was a recipient of the Prince Claus Seed Awards (2022) and nominated for The Sovereign Art Prize (2023). She has participated in local and international exhibitions including; REA ART FAIR, Milan (2020); ‘The exhaustion project’, Forecast Festival, Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin (2018); and ‘Absurdity in Paradise’, Kasseler, Germany.
