WeiXin Quek Chong
b. 1988, Singapore
Lives and works between Singapore, Madrid and London
WeiXin Quek Chong works with image, objects, audiovisual and at times performative elements to play with perception and tantalise the senses. From an interest in dichotomies between digital and organic, monumental and minuscule, and other constructed binaries, her artistic concerns have expanded into exploring ways value systems and social interfaces are expressed and evolve, often alluded to and grounded in visual and material forms.
Her recent projects are inspired by processes of transformation in the biodiverse world as well as cyborgian adaptation- incorporating sensorial-based explorations that frequently involve tactility, sound, and immersive environments.
