Trong Gia Nguyen

Trong Gia Nguyen is a multi-disciplinary artist who received his MFA from the University of South Florida (Florida, USA). His wide array of works examines structures of power in their myriad forms. Regularly employing humour while at other times engaging sober reflection, Nguyen’s work elevates the condition of doubt as it reveals and disrupts the undercarriage of our most trusted spaces –domestic, cultural, political, and economical.

He has exhibited internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions including: ‘Anthology for Beginners’ at La Patinoire Royale, Brussels, Belgium (2021); ‘California Pacific Triennial’ at Orange County Museum of Art, Newport, CA (2018); ‘My Myopia’ at Cornell Museum of Fine Arts, Orlando, FL (2018); ‘The Foliage’ at Vincom Center for Contemporary Art, Hanoi, Vietnam, (2017); ‘The Others’ at Piazzale Valdo Fusi, Torino, Italy (2015); ‘Eye on the Storm’ at Housatonic Museum of Art, Connecticut (2013); ‘Satellites in the Night’ at Freies Museum, Berlin, Germany (2010); ‘The Sixth Borough’ in New York, NY (2010); ‘Sequences’ in Reykjavik, Iceland (2008); and ‘Performa 05’ at Artists Space, New York, NY (2005).

Trong has received grants and residencies from around the United States including; the Museum of Arts & Design, Harvestworks Digital Media Center, Bronx Museum of the Arts, and LMCC, (New York); Artist in Residence in the Everglades and LegalArt Miami, (Florida); and FabLab (California). He also received a residency from Gate 27 (Istanbul, Turkey). His works are in numerous public and private collections including; 21c Museum Hotels, (Kentucky, USA); Cornell Museum of Fine Arts, (Florida, USA); School of the Art Institute of Chicago, (Illinois, USA); Museum of Contemporary Art (Antwerp, Belgium); and Servais Family Collection (Brussels, Belgium).
