Restu Ratnaningtyas

Restu Ratnaningtyas is an artist and illustrator. Her love for art matured through her youth and she studied art from 2000 to 2003 at Pendidikan Seni Rupa di Universitas Negeri Jakarta, also known as Jakarta State University. With a creative flourish, Restu has shown talent across varying mediums. She primarily works in video art, watercolour, painting, and installations, with a focus on daily life.

In addition to solo shows – ‘Memento: Privatisation Room’ at the Vivi Yip Art Room, Jakarta, Indonesia (2008), ‘Tantrum’ at the Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2016); and ‘Subsume’ at BAIK Art, Los Angeles, USA (2017) – Restu has participated in group exhibitions internationally. These include ‘mnēmonikos: Art of Memory’ in Bangkok, Thailand (2013); the Yogyakarta Biennale in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2013); ‘The Roving Eye’ in Istanbul, Turkey (2014); ‘Stealing Public Space’ at the Substation, Singapore (2020); and ‘Includes’ at Darren Knights Gallery, Sydney, Australia (2020).
