Nguyen Manh Hung

b. 1976, Hanoi, Vietman
Lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Nguyen Manh Hung received his training at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts and has participated in both solo and group exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad. He is also known as a curator of Nha San Studio, a well known contemporary art space in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Nguyen is well-known in the Vietnamese contemporary art scene, recognised in both the domestic and international markets. In his paintings, there is a disconnect between the context and humans depicted: fighter-planes filled with building bricks and food; cars run by old turtles; young girls carrying firearms and plastic bags filled with food in a space that is neither at war or at peace. The symbols in Nguyen Manh Hung’s paintings continuously change.

Nguyen has exhibited in Vietnam and overseas, including Japan, Australia, Sweden, South Korea, France, and the USA, and has participated in resident programs in France, the USA and South Korea. His works are in the collections of Francis J. Greenburger (USA), Art Omi (New York), GT Art Holding LLC (New York), Willie Fine Art (Malaysia), Alessandro Marena Project (Milan, Italy), amongst others.
