Giang Lê

b. 1988, Hanoi, Vietnam
Lives and works in Hanoi, Vietnam

Having earned degrees from Vietnam and the United Kingdom, Lê has a comprehensive understanding of both Vietnamese artistic techniques and of Western academic aesthetics in art. Influenced by her educational background, Giang has in recent years expanded beyond painting and embraced other media. Her drawing and sculptural practice questions the systematisation of human memory and habit via the study of archive and interdisciplinary collaborative research.

Lê is the co-founder of Six Space, and has exhibited internationally in both group and solo shows in the UK, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Japan. She also actively continues to be involved in contemporary art discourse in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam. Her exhibitions include: ‘Citizen Earth’ (General University, Hanoi, 2020), ‘D’eau et de Verdure’ (Institut Francais, Hanoi & Vin Gallery, HCMC, 2020), ‘Vestige of a Land’ (Art Central Hong Kong, 2019), ‘Phản niệm’ (Vin Gallery, HCMC, 2018), ‘Vestige of a Land’ (Goethe Institut Hanoi, 2017); ‘Above Under Sky’ (Manzi Art Space Hanoi, Hanoi, 2014); and ‘Reincarnate’ (Conflictable Cube, Irabaki, Japan, 2013).
