Chin Wan Kee

Chin Wan Kee is a sculptor, painter and senior lecturer in the Creative Arts Department at TAR UC (Tunku Abdul Rahman University College), in Malaysia. He received his Diploma in Fine Art in 1984 and Post Diploma in Fine Art in Painting and Drawing in 1986. Following this, he obtained his Masters in Fine Art in Painting in 1992 at the Academy of Art University College, San Francisco, USA.

Chin Wan Kee has been awarded several sculpture art awards including the Sculpture Award Spring Show from Academy of Art University College, San Francisco, USA, in 1991, and he was the winner of the National Visual Art Gallery Public Sculpture competition in 2000. Chin participated in various sculpture and painting exhibitions including a few solo exhibitions since 1991. His works are in various personal, corporate and public collections.

Sculpture is his focus and also a meditation for him to create a conceivable direction towards the understanding of the fundamental nature and intrinsic values of humanity.

His works are primarily bronze, and focus on the human anatomy as a basis for formal experimentation in the modernist mode. His figurative sculptures are a repository of emotion, a template for the investigation of life philosophies. The gestures of the works are in a mode of modernism.
