Calvin Pang

b. 1986, Singapore
Lives and works in Singapore

Pang graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Loughborough University, UK and his art resembles a journal of his encounters with people, spaces and objects narrated across different mediums. He also holds an MA in Art Therapy from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore.

The immediate environment, both the material and immaterial, more often than not serves as a direct influence to his creative processes and practice. In order to represent the notion that art is a part of his own life, he works primarily with the colour white because it is easily found in elements representing life (milk) and death (bone). This decision is also in line with his approach to make his art as a blank canvas for viewers’ thoughts to manifest.

Pang’s first solo exhibition, ‘Unplanned Endings’, took place at Intersections Gallery, Singapore, in September 2019. His installation works have been commissioned by the Singapore Art Museum (2017), Owl Spot Theater in Tokyo, Japan (2016 & 2017), the Singapore Tourism Board for the Singapore Festival 2020 in Yangon, Myanmar and the National Arts Council Singapore for Streets of Hope (2020). Pang is a registered art therapist and an art practitioner, and is practicing as an art therapist in a hospice setting in Singapore.
