Wyn-lyn Tan And Zen Teh – ‘Peripheral Spaces’

8 January – 20 February 2022

NIE Art Gallery, Singapore

‘Peripheral Spaces’ is an exhibition consisting of collaborative installations within an indoor venue and a digital component that extends the artistic experience to the surrounding environment outside. The exhibition explores temporality and the semiotic transformations of nature in urban spaces and digital interfaces. As urbanity intensifies, commodified forms of nature such as representations and specified green spaces gain traction, resulting in the blurring of the limits of nature both as concept and physical space. This phenomena can be a rich ground for collaborative artistic production as well as an opportunity to reflect upon exhibitionary practices in the present day. ‘Peripheral Spaces’ consists of artworks by visual artists Wyn-Lyn Tan and Zen Teh, as well as a digital experience in collaboration with designer Lim Shu Min.

The exhibition is curated by Hera and co-organised by the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, with support from National Arts Council Singapore.
